New Skills Learned
One of the most useful things I learned was how to install different plugins like WooCommerce. I got the hang of navigating WordPress by incorporating blocks, using plugins, and choosing themes to make the experience of using the website better. I also picked up some important e-commerce basics, like managing products. I used the Twenty- Twenty Five theme for my commerce site and Blockskit Blog for my content site. Using these themes helped me find my way around WordPress as I edited and customized them to my liking. I also used the style “Morning” on my commerce site which was fun to customize.
Challenges Faced
Even with progress, I ran into a lot of challenges. My biggest challenge was figuring out WooCommerce on my commerce site. This was the only plugin I used because after I tried to maneuver this one, I quickly got discouraged and decided to do my best trying to learn that one.
Proud Moments
I’m really proud of how I brought the qualitative parts of the project to life. I focused on the visual design to match the brand identity and appeal to the target audience. I used widgets and blocks in a way that flows which contributes to qualitative points on my content page. Additionally, I incorporated product reviews on my commerce page.
Looking Ahead
I look forward to using what I have learned through this portion of Project Three to potentially freelance website making for people with small businesses. I feel as though this would be a great way to build my portfolio and further my professional goals.
